I wrote this a few days ago and am just posting it now...................
I fly away to India in less than a week!
This is the week to acquire everything on my packing list and to think of the last minute essentials I'll want to have with me.
The other day i picked out some rock friends to travel with me.
Clockwise from the top they are:
black tourmaline,
malachite/azurite,
carnelian,
shiva lingam,
pyrite,
ammonite
blue kyanite
A good assortment of stones to heal, cleanse and protect all the chakras.
This is such an interesting time because I don't actually know what it'll be like to be there. It's sort of hard for me to imagine it and yet I'm thinking about it all the time. I wish I could hold on to the image I've conjured of India now, before going, so I could compare it with the reality of how it looks and feels to be there. In my mind it is this warm, bright, spicy, dirty, loud place...............
I wonder what I will miss the most about life in the U.S. My guesses are:
close friends, knowing where I am, dancing, blending in
I am most excited for:
young coconuts, 80 degree days, bright colored clothes, markets, amazing spice blends, foods I've never tasted, a sense of newness
Yes!! Can hardly wait

Thank youuu
Hello!
It's a little awkward to begin a blog...but here goes! My name is Julia Vieau and I leave on a journey to India in less than a week! I'm keeping a blog with the intention of staying in touch with friends and family, and sharing my photos, art and learning with people while I'm away.
I raised money for the trip by creating a personal campaign on indiegogo.com. You can watch my campaign video at www.indiegogo.com/juliaindia
I want to say a huge thank you to all of the contributors who helped to make this trip possible for me! I feel so blessed to know so many people support me in my dreams!
I'm headed to Mysore India to study ashtanga yoga at the Shri K. Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute (kpjayi.org) for two months. This January will mark my two year anniversary of a daily ashtanga practice. In this time I have witnessed amazing transformation in my body and I continue to gain strength and flexibility with each day of practice.
After two months in Mysore I'll have two more months to travel around India and go wherever the wind takes me. There are endless possibilities!
