Devaraja Market

Yesterday I went to the Devaraja market. It was one of the most beautiful places I've been here so far. A classic market scene with big piles of vegetables and fruits, pigments, oils, plastic containers, baskets, bangles, flowers, spices.....

There were
sparrows perched on green beans,

boys hand rolling sticks of incense,

beggars, eyes sunken behind wrinkles,

people stringing flowers for pooja,

boys pushing jars of oil, anklets, bangles, flutes, in my face,

families bargaining for groceries,

sun rays floating through the canvas ceiling...

  2. Wow! The pigments are so beautiful. Is that what they use on the mandalas? Can you use them in your art? Send us some recipe ideas of what you are eating and maybe we can try some. Love, Liz

  3. Apparently you can use them for painting and dying so I am considering buying some. I'm not totally sure what they're made of though!
