The carvings on this temple (from 1268 CE) are like icing on a cake! They tell epic stories but honestly I can only imagine what they're about. My favorite are the opulent, voluptuous goddesses who I asked to bless me on my path. And the great thing about India is that you can just reach out and touch the carvings and you get to walk around the whole place barefoot!
Jen, Tom, Virginia and I went on this sight seeing adventure yesterday. Our young driver, Veni, spoke only a little English and taught us the Indian pronunciations of the names of places. He put on music and I danced in the car to Will Smith and Shakira--so funny and fun. I loved seeing bits of the countryside: people harvesting sugar cane in the hot sun, trucks loaded so so high with hay and pulled by the most gorgeous white cows that I still don't know the name of, painted houses, and all the little towns.
Today I'm looking forward to a day of yoga then rest.

What fun! I love the way you chose to photograph it. It looks like it is quite warm there from your clothing. And you - So Beautiful
ReplyDeletedearest Julia, I went to visit your granda Ma Penny this afternoon. I took my ipad and we read all of your messages and viewed the pictures. Penny was overwhelmed byevery thing you have done and will do while you are on your journey. she said to say she thought you were wonderful and how much she admired you for your willingness to travel to a distant country by yourself and experience so nany things as an indepedent person. She was also surprised that we could commnunicate from so far away as easily as it appears you are able to. After we finished looking and reading, penny said"my head is swelling with all this information" She was thrilled that I could share this with her and wants to keep up with you on a daily basis. It was fun to read your descritions to her. they are so rich and help you to feel as though you are there with you. Maybe a book in progress?? we send you our love and admiration...........
