The way that this is set up reminds me of my first Evergreen program where we each went on our own expedition of sociology and communicated with our small groups through commenting on the internet. Also, this makes me think of ethnography and how our experiences are all dependent on the observer, ourselves and how creating them is kind of like art. So what is it like, I can't hardly imagine, to be who you are, an American traveler (tourist?), and do you think that differs from the other people there? Where does that place you economically and socially? How do you see yourself? Is it as a stranger? I've interacted with a lot of people for reasons unknown to me from different langues and I feel like its a totally different motivation when you don't share the same language. I want to remain authentic to myself even when the mode for communication is new (to both of us) and practically being invented on the spot! I'm really enjoying commenting! Also, I think you mentioned that some of the holidays were being celebrated between family and friends and so you didn't get to be at the center of involvement in the holiday! I know that it feels like you are at a place distant from your known friends and family, but I challenge you to see it in a new way because you will have so many opportunities for connection with all the people everywhere! :)
ReplyDelete-thinking of you and very interested (and jealous :)but happy for u)
Also, you are in a completely foreign zone and miles distant from any place you are familiar too,
ReplyDeletehow does how your feeling about yourself in the world find similarity with your already developed forms of being? Does how your feeling remind you of how you used to feel at a different time? What similarities are there in your environment with those different times in your life? I'm really hoping you grow a lot from this!
